About the Evaroof system
The summer overhating of industrial flat roofs causes many problems. The patented Hungarian WaterFilm Technology® is aimed at solving these problems with the use of the evaporative cooling effect.
Evaporative roof cooling reduces internal temperatures thereby eliminating summer work stoppages due to unacceptable temperatures and reduces the amount of waste. It prevents certain failures of the waterproofing and therefore reduces leakage. It keeps rooftop mechanical cooling units from stopping due to overheating and reduces their energy demand by up to 80%.
The main obstacle for the adoption of roof cooling systems is the lack of validation measurements. The goal of the EVAROOF project is to create a modular measurement system which is easily adaptable to any project, monitors the relevant physical quantities above and below the roof and is therefore capable to assess and then present the effectiveness of such system through an online service.
Using the system we can gain reliable data about the buildings' climatic conditions and enable decision makers to make well founded judgments. This will all contribute to adapting this environmentally friendly solution and make very large savings.
The largest external surface of big industrial buildings is their roof which can receive up to 90-150.000 kWh/day solar heat load for a floor area of 15.000 m2. This is a very large summer cooling load made worst by the large internal heat loads of many industrial processes. The elevated internal temperatures lead to health issues for the workers, sometimes necessitating work stoppages, can endanger the operation of expensive equipment, contribute to an overall increase of waste and reduce the effectiveness of rooftop mechanical cooling units. Further thermal insulation of the roof is not a solution as it only further reduces the ability of the building to get rid of the excess heat.
